"Having a chronic fear of the dentist
for most of my life it has not been often, if ever,
that I can say attending the dentist has been an enjoyable
experience! However my outlook on dentists has been
completely overhauled. I attended Mr Taggart’s
practice due to an abscess which my own NHS dentist
had told me would “go away”.
I sought a second opinion after a week
of sleepless nights and the problem was rectified almost
instantly by Mr Taggart. It resulted in my having to
wear a denture for 6 months to allow the area to heal
and also to make some choices as to how I wanted to
proceed with the fixing of my teeth which were in utter
disrepair.
The service I received in this was second
to none with study models of how my teeth would look
being sent out to me for consideration, a lot of clinical
time spent discussing the pros and cons of different
methods and many appointments where I still could not
decide. All the while both Mr Taggart and his friendly
staff never rushed any decisions and allowed me to be
perhaps the most frustrating patient.
However I finally decided on crowns and
a bridge along the upper teeth at the front. This involved
a number of hours of preparation which were on the whole
painless and actually very relaxing! Moreover Mr Taggart
allowed me to have temporary work done in the first
instance which would replicate how the crowns would
look when actually finished. This was a completely new
phase for me as usually when attending an NHS dentist
your crowns were inserted whether you were comfortable
with the look or not.
At the same time it became apparent that
I would need root treatment on one of the teeth which
had been prepared. Now, I have heard nothing but horror
stories about the pain people suffer when having this
sort of treatment done – so you can imagine my
utter surprise and relief that, when the numbness started
to wear off, I had absolutely no pain whatsoever. To
say I was impressed would be an understatement.
After a few weeks of treatment and a lot
of consideration I finally have my new crowns in place
and I have to say they look absolutely excellent. The
whole process has really raised my confidence and helped
me to battle my fear of the dentist. This has been helped
along the way by Mr Taggart spending a lot of time both
explaining and describing everything that would be happening
whilst also explaining fully the problems I had –
a first class patient manner.

"I was never a big fan of the dentist
,well that's an understatement! i used to be petrified
and because of this i never went when i was younger.
and through having a sweet tooth and not brushing my
teeth properly, i had no option but to visit Mr. taggart.
After my first few visits to his practice my attitude
changed because of the time and care took at every dental
session,the time he took to explain all and each treatment
part to me, the painless way he injected anaesthetics,the
great work he carried out including veneers ,root canals,
fillings, crowns and cosmetic work needed. Moreover,
he restored decades of neglect in a couple of months
, all with excellent results!. Not only did Mr. Taggart
give me my smile back he gave me back my confidence

the work i had carried out included a gum lift which
sounds painful but as i said before the care i was given
was second to none , after this procedure i was sitting
at home watching television when dentist taggart -phoned
me , out of working hours to see how i was feeling,
i was taken back by this as it showed the care and time

Hi Dr. Taggart and hi to anyone out there
surfing the web looking for a good dentist. Well, you
can stop now, because you have found the right one.
I highly recommend Dr. Taggart and his staff for all
their good work, patience with me and for making my
visits very enjoyable. Now truly, who enjoys going to
the dentist. I had not been to a dentist in many years
because of bad experiences.
I had wasted my time and money. I just happened to pass
the office one day and decided to go in. Now that was
one of the best decisions I had made in a long time.
On my first and every visit, everything was explained
very simply to me making it easy for me to ask questions.
Dr Taggart has a way of making you feel at ease so that
you can converse with him and that I feel is very important.
Whatever you need done, cosmetic, dentures ect, I feel
you will be very happy with the results. So thank you

All because of a cherry ! I'd noticed
a punnet of delicious looking cherries in the fridge
in my office, one wouldn't hurt , would
it ? Unfortunately it did , and a crown on my upper
front tooth broke.
I arranged an appointment with Mr. Taggart the next
day where he gave me a thorough dental examination to
assess the condition of my teeth. When I told him that
I'd been unhappy with the appearance of my teeth , he
carefully explained the options for improving them,
referring to his website to illustrate the procedures
involved and explaining the likely cost.
A couple of days later, after consulting Mr. Taggarts
website, I returned having decided on porcelain crowns
and veneers for my front four teeth. Preparatory treatment
was undertaken and I was given plastic crowns to show
me how I would look!
On my next visit temporary crowns and veneers were fitted
to see how I would live with them. Over the week , my
lower teeth chipped them a wee bit which allowed Mr.
Taggart to make adjustments before the more permanent
( and expensive!) ones were fitted.
Two weeks on and I'm extremely pleased with the result.
I've had to learn to smile a bit more naturally as I'd
spent my adfult life self- consciously masking my teeth.
It doesn't do your confidence any harm either !
I have no hesitation in reccomending Mr. Taggart as
a Dental Practitioner to anyone. I found it a very easy
process and knew exactly what was happening all the
way through my treatment.

Hi Hugh,
Before I commenced with my cosmetic dental work I was
embarrassed by my teeth, therefore smiling and revealing
my teeth was something that I was uncomfortable with.
Throughout the whole process Hugh guided and advised,
explained everything in detail and when there were choices
to be made he did his utmost to make everything absolutely
crystal clear.
For me the realisation of the finished
result came not at the end of the treatment but some
months later, when looking at some old holiday photographs
of myself from the previous year. The change was dramatic
and the difference was immense. It made me smile!

I have been a patient of Hugh’s
dental practice since 1990. At this time, Hugh suggested
some cosmetic dental work which I agreed on and after
having porcelain veneers fitted over teeth that had
always caused me to be shy and embarrassed to smile,
my world was turned around. 18 years on I have had no
hesitation in asking Hugh’s advice in replacing

"I have been a patient at the practice
since 2005, and I have joined the isoplan practice membership
plan. Prior to joining the membership plan I only visited
the hygienist when I felt it was really neccessary,
which tended to be about every couple of years. I also
only tended to visit the dentist for checkups when I
thought I had a problem. My teeth are in good condition,
but my gums are prone to receeding, which has always
been a big worry to me.
After my first session with Jane, I was booked in for
appointments every 3 months. I feel reassured that Jane
can monitor the condition of my gums, and advise on
how best I can look after them. I now know how to use
an interdental brush, when to use a mouthwash, and yes
Jane, I do actually floss every day now! I feel I am
actively looking after my teeth and gums now, instead
of burrying my head in the sand.
I would not feel happy going more than
6 months without a thorough clean and assessment from
Jane now, and I am much more confident that my teeth
and gums will stay healthy for years to come.
I really feel that being on the membership
plan has changed my attitude to caring for my teeth
and gums, and I would reccommend it to anyone who wants
to keep their mouth and teeth as healthy as possible."

Hi Hugh,
Due to a bad experience having root treatment at another
i practice i was quite nervous until i became a patient
of Mr.Taggart. I told him i was nervous and he was very
understanding and always makes sure he explains all
aspects of treatments to me so i am fully aware of whats
going to happen. thanks to Mr.Taggart i now feel at
ease and have since had another root treatment without
any worries.

I had a slight pain in my tooth on and
off for a few months. The pain became unbearable and
Mr Taggart advised me to have root canal treatment carried
out on the tooth. The injection was fine, it actually
relieved the pain as it was injected. The process of
the root treatment was absolutely painless. I have had
no further problems with this tooth.

I have been a patient of Mr Taggart`s
for a number of years now. When I first went to his
surgery I had a real fear of the dentist. Working with
me Mr Taggart helped me to overcome this fear with the
professional and caring treatment he and his team have
shown me over the years are second to none.
Having to use a part upper denture and with the imminent
loss of a tooth which was key to holding my denture
in place I spoke to Mr Taggart and we discussed my problem.
We decided the answer lay in using a single implant
to hold the denture in place.
Having the implant done and useing the denture for a
year now i find that the new denture feels more secure
with the implant holding it in place. For eating ,talking
etc I would say that the new denture is far superior
to the old one.
The procedure itself for fitting the implant takes a
bit longer than some other dental treatments but it
was worth it.
