Sedation
is used as an adjunct to treatment for extremely anxious
patients who would otherwise be unable to accept dental
treatment.
The procedure involves monitoring the patient, and
injecting an intravenous agent which gives the patient
a sense of wellbeing and calmness. The agent also causes
temporary amnesia, which means that the even the most
intricate and difficult procedures can be carried out
with the co-operation of the patient.
Hugh has been providing sedation for patients for 20
years, and is happy to treat even the most dental-phobic
patient.
