Crowns
(sometimes called "caps") are placed where
the surface of the tooth is badly broken down, or where
a heavily filled tooth needs to be restored. Modern
all-ceramic crowns are shade-matched to the other teeth
and placed over the required tooth after it has been
prepared. They offer excellent aesthetics and strength,
and can contribute to masking an unsightly tooth from
an otherwise beautiful smile.
The treatment normally takes 2 visits.
On the first visit the tooth is prepared and an impression
taken, and a temporary crown is placed to cover the
prepared tooth. At the 2nd visit the crown is cemented
in place.
